I never imagined that at the age of 26, I would be celebrating my very first "Father's Day". Although it's only been six months since my son was born, I've sometimes had to pinch myself when I open my eyes and see him sleeping peacefully across the room from me. To say that it's a surreal feeling each time your son/daughter smiles at you or breaks out laughing uncontrollably from a silly action you just made is something only a father can truly understand.
As I sit here in reflection, I can't help but consider myself extremely fortunate and grateful for not only having been given the opportunity to be both a father & husband myself, but most importantly, for having been raised by someone as admirable and gentle as my own father. Recently, more than ever before, I have come to truly understand what I've heard time and time again:
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
Today, I can say that I stand proud and tall as my own tree and in close proximity to my father's (and mother's). As I begin to see my own little apple continue to grow and shine, I rest assured that one day, he too will break free, unleash the outstanding potential contained therein and grow up to be a much taller and wiser tree filled with fruits of its own.
I end this note with a heartfelt thanks to all the real men who strive to be the best Fathers they can be to all those who depend on them. I have the utmost admiration and respect for you all, and now that I've joined the club, I walk on honored and humbled for the immense challenge and privilege that lies before me.
After all, "any man can be a Father, but it takes a real man to be a Dad".
Happy Father's Day to you all and a very SPECIAL THANKS TO YOU DAD!
...you strive to be best.
